When I figure out what is it, you'll be sure to know...

What will your verse be?
OK world! I said it once, and I'll say it again, The Dead Poet's Society is one of the greatest movies ever! I can't tell you how many times I have watched this movie and have felt the energy of life surge right back into my body. It's amazing and it seems like every time I watch it a new thought or passion pops into my mind. One of these thoughts came from the quote I left in my first entry, that of us being actors in the play of life and how we all have one verse to contribute. And I began to seriously think about it. If I could only contribute one, just one verse, to this entire play that we know as existence what would it be? The answer. I have no freaking idea. To me, the question makes me feel so small, but at the same time it gives me the feeling that my single verse can stand out. I guess that's the whole the point of it. We only get one shot in this world, one shining moment when the curtain goes up and all eyes are on us. It's there, in that quiet moment, when we can either decide to succumb to fear and forget our verse or we can grab hold of life and command the attention of the world. Well Ok, maybe it won't be that dramatic. Maybe my verse won't ring across nations or reach the hearts of millions... but all it takes one. One ear to listen, one heart to feel, one person to touch, as long as one person hears my verse that's all that matters. Yet, I still don't know what I will say, or contribute rather. I hope it will be something... unique. But with so many actors, it can be hard to come up with an original line. So instead, I hope it will be something to help the greater cause, whatever that may be. I figure, one line can't make up a play, and so I wish that whatever I do contribute to this world as an individual will somehow make the final picture even more beautiful.
Allow me to introduce myself...
Hey There!
My name is Brittany.
I'm starting this blog for a couple of reasons. First and foremost I really want to discipline myself to write daily so that I can work on being a better... well, writer! :-) I'd like to be an author, columnist, journalist, or screenwriter one day. Basically, anything that lets me be creative and use my words to express that creativity. I've haven't decided what my approach to this blog will be yet or what I'm going to try and say, but I promise its development will be very interesting. Hopefully you all will enjoy it just as much as I enjoy writing it. Consider this entry to best represent the writer, short and sweet. :-)
"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are all nobles pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, 'O me!, O life!... of the questions of these recurring of the endless trains of the faithless... of cities filled with the foolish, what good amid these, O me, O life?' Answer. That you are here- that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?"
